Lithium-ion batteries have become a leading cause of fires and fire deaths. The batteries are found in micromobility devices such as e-bikes, e-scooters, hoverboards and other devices. These battery fires are explosive, fastmoving and destructive. This year alone, there were 214 lithium-ion battery structural fires, causing 14 deaths and 116 injuries (through 10/16/23).
